Cruise forums are where you ask the question no brochure answers: “Is the walk from the terminal long?”, “Which tender ticket do we need?” or “Has anyone done this excursion with a wheelchair?”

The Biggest Cruise Forums

Cruise Critic message boards

The largest cruise-only community, with boards for each line, port and type of cruiser, and roll calls for individual sailings.

Reddit

r/Cruise on Reddit and line-specific communities are busy, informal and quick to answer; quality varies, so check answers against official pages.

Tripadvisor

The cruise section of Tripadvisor Cruises includes forums alongside reviews, useful when your question crosses into hotels or tours.

Line communities and fan groups

Some lines host community pages, and there are large fan groups on social media for most ships.

Local cruise clubs and roll calls are their own world; our sister site Cruise Club explains how roll calls and meet-and-greets work.

Getting Good Answers From Cruise Forums

  • Search first. Most questions have been asked; the best answers are often in an old thread.
  • Be specific. Give the ship, sailing month and what you have already found.
  • Check the date of every answer. Policies, terminals and excursion operators change.
  • Confirm rules officially. Use forums for experience; use the cruise line or port for rules.
  • Give back. Post a short report after your cruise; it is how forums stay useful.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a roll call?

A forum thread for passengers on one specific sailing. People use it to meet before the cruise, share plans and organize private shore excursions or a meet-and-greet on board.

Are cruise forums safe to use?

Generally yes, but never share your booking number, full name with travel dates, or payment details, and be wary of anyone who messages you privately offering a deal.

Questions Cruise Forums Answer Best

Embarkation day

Which terminal, how long the lines were, where to drop bags and park, and what time people actually boarded.

Ports and tenders

Whether a port needs a tender, how long the walk into town is, and which taxis or shuttles were easy.

Cabins

Noise from the deck above, how a particular balcony is shaded, and which cabins have an obstructed view in practice.

Shore excursions

Which tours ran on time, which were crowded, and which independent operators other cruisers used.

Special needs

First-hand experience of wheelchairs on tenders, dietary requests or travelling with medical equipment.

After a change

What a new itinerary or policy change looked like on board for people who sailed it last week.

Forums are weaker for anything that depends on your booking: fares, upgrades, refunds and compensation. Those answers come from the cruise line or from whoever booked your cruise. If a forum answer sounds too good to be true — a secret code, a guaranteed upgrade — it almost always is.

One more tip: when you find a helpful regular on a forum, look at their other posts. People who have sailed the same ship many times often answer questions you did not know to ask.
